Warning! Dog poisoning is on the increase again!

We have seen an increase in dogs being poisoned recently. Make sure your dogs are not visible to the perpetrators killing our beloved animals. If the dog has vomited, gather a sample of it in a plastic bag and save it for your veterinarian. It may be used for testing and analysis. However, never induce vomiting without consulting with your veterinarian or the Pet Poison Helpline first, especially if it is unconscious as some poisons can cause more damage if vomiting occurs than if left in the stomach

Signs of pet poisoning

Inhaled poisons

Coughing, drooling, difficulty breathing, unconsciousness or coma.

Swallowed poisons

Can cause gastrointestinal irritation, vomiting, Diarrhea, restlessness, staggering, disorientation, convulsions, lethargy, loss of appetite, twitching, dilated pupils, ulcers, heart palpitations, and coma.

Contact poisons

Chemicals or plants that come into contact with your pet’s skin can cause irritation. You may see signs of discomfort, agitation, excessive scratching or licking, swellings (hives) or pain. If severe, skin can appear red and ulcerated or bleeding under the coat.
